Exploring the Negev Desert in southern Israel by jeep (4x4) will take you on an incredible journey through stunning landscapes, while discovering Israel's history, archaeology, geology and encountering its wildlife and vegetation. Sunday / DAY 1
The tour begins with Nahal Hemar, a wadi (dry river bed) featuring a cave with archeological finds from Neolithic times. On to Nahal Sodom & Mt.Sodom's observation point to get acquainted with the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah. Stop for a rest and refreshments, then proceed to Ein Yerakam desert spring to see a ancient camel trail dating from the Nabatean era. On to Makhtesh Katan (also known as the Small Crater), a unique geological erosional landform, then to Makhtesh Gadol (the Big Crater), with its multicolored sandstone and petrified trees. Day ends at Kibbutz Mashabei Sadeh Country Lodging for dinner and overnight.

Monday / DAY 2
Following breakfast at the hotel our tour will begin with a visit of Ovdat – an ancient Nabataean city on the ancient incense route, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Proceed to the Ramon Crater and drive through Wadi Ramon to Mount Gvanim, rich with fossils, then to Nahal Gvanim & Ein Saharonim (a tiny desert spring featuring an ancient Nabataean fort or inn with lush vegetation and unique wildlife). Proceed to Wadi Ardon, with rare volcanic intrusions known as "dikes". Hospitality and light lunch at a Bedouin tent. Drive out of the crater to visit the tomb & memorial of Ben Gurion (Israel’s first prime minister), at Sde Boker on a cliff offering breathtaking views of the Tzin Canyon and Ovdat Highland. Time permitting, descend to Ein Akev desert spring and waterfall. Return to Central Israel.

Bring along: Bathing suit, sunscreen lotion, hat, comfortable walking shoes, and warm clothing (also in the summer, for cool desert nights), water is available on the jeep but you may want to bring your own personal water bottle, overnight gear (1 piece per person)
