About
The Joe Alon Center, opened in 1980, is an institute with a unique combination of museum, research center,and field school - all dedicated to the promotion of regional studies. It was established by the Joe Alon Association, commemorating Joe Alon - an israeli pilot, murdered while on a diplomatic assignment in the United States, the case has not been solved to this very day.

Your are invited to experience our Bedouin style hospitality in our Sheik's tent, sip some sweet desert herbal tea or try bitter black coffee, taste genuin "pita bread" made on the spot just for you , wear a "Galabia" relax and enjoy a "timeless" atmosphere.

Exhibits and shows   Learn about the daily life of the Bedouin in the Negev and Sinai, by exploring impressive exhibits and audio-visual presentations (available in a number of languages). 
 
The family tent   visit the family tent where aromatic, delicious pita-bread is baked on the sadzh. Taste the pita-bread with some Labaneh cheese and olive oil.
 
Farm animals   Meet the Bedouin farm animals, such as camels, donkeys, sheep and goats. Donkey rides are available for children.
 
Bedouin handcrafts  Create musical instruments and Bedouin toys.
 
Observation Deck    Panoramic view, overlooking the northern Negev, the Hebron hills (the border of 1967), Lahav forest, Lahav nature reserve and the Bedouin and Jewish settlements in the area.
 
Home in the Negev   An interactive, multi-media presentation of the Jewish settlement in the Negev, from the early days of the State of Israel up to present times

Summer  Saturday - Thursday 09:00 am to 17:00 pm  
Fridays till 14:00 pm

Getting there
From Tel Aviv on route 40 south to Beer Sheva. Exit route 40 at Dvir Junction to road 325 - East and follow to Kibbutz Lahav. The entry to Joe Alon Center is just before the entry to the Kibbutz.
