About Kibbutz Ginosar Located on the western shores of the Sea of Galilee, near the small town of Migdal at about 10 minutes north of Tiberias. It was founded in 1937 by a group of young socialist Zionists as a tower and stockade settlement. Its economy is based on agriculture, fishery & today a thriving tourism industry. Ginosar was home of Yigal Alon, the famed Israeli general. In 1986 when the water level of lake dropped it revealed a fishing boat carbon dated to 100 BCE. The boat known as the "Jesus Boat" is exhibited at the Yigal Allon Museum.
